About Me: Dockildare Trikes n Bikes
I'm a Biker/Triker based in Derbyshire, UK. Every Monday & Wednesday you'll find me & Annabel @ THE bikers meet for miles around called MFN, @ Eastwood, Nottinghamsire (also referred to as "Miles from Fuckin Nowhere!" cos it's situated off the beaten track ). Also more recently Beeston Mariner, Beeston, Nottinghamshire on Thursday evenings. You'll know me, just look for the guy walking with either a wooden cane or if I'm on my bike, as fancy collapsable walking stick with a dragon for the handle and a pronounced limp - lol!!.
I'm registered disabled due to some trainee clown of a bus driver that decided he liked the bit of round-a-bout that I was using, so proceeded to use his car to push me off it along with my Vmax, headlong across said round-a-bout - crushing my leg between the bike and the corner of the kerbing. Needless to say, resulting in a severely buggered up leg. knee and ankle that still hasn't healed properly - hence the walking sticks and limp.
I have my wife and 12 cats to thank for helping me stay sane through all the crap I've been through - and of course my Bikes/Trikes. Plus Malc, John, Linda, Lee & the bar staff @ MFN! Another fella I like to think saves my sanity is my m8 Barrie and his other half Lesley up in sunny Blackpool. Full of info about bike n trike engineering, as well as other stuff - lol!!
Also, MFN runs regular band nights on Wednesdays, featuring some of the best bands you'll get to see in the UK - Isolysis, NG26, Toxic Federation, Gatecrasher and Exhibit 'A' - to name a few who are top notch bands well worth seeing and above all supporting.
Also I have my photography and vinyl records to help me out. I've recently sold the Honda Magna V65 on - together with the trike rear end I was working at fitting. I was looking forward to blasting about on the trike at Christmas/New Year - but it wasn't to be, through no fault of myself trying. I've left the Honda Magna blog pages up, for now, but in time it will have to come down - I'm thinking of doing a Bobber conversion on a Suzuki Intruder VS800 I still have, but it's not even at the concrete planning stage yet, just a fleeting thought.
Past History
I qualified as a Psychiatric nurse 27 years ago @ a place called Herrison Hospital in Dorset. Obtained a BA (Hons) in Fine Art 33 years ago @ Loughborough College of Arts, Loughborough, Leicestershire. Started riding bikes seriously 40 years ago as a late teenager much against my parents wishes, even though my dad had been a keen motorcyclist in the war years (2nd World War that is) and mum liked to pillion!
I currently "work" for DHL International but to be honest I'm glad I'm classed as being disabled and therefore not currently expected to work, because I was getting a bit cheesed off listening to people moaning about their missing mobile phones! Hell!.....buy another, there are far more serious things in life to worry about & DHL insurance will take care of the rest - metaphor on life for only worrying about those bits you can't replace, and believe me I've lost plenty in the last 5 years since the RTA!
