Info about my 3 guitars - continued
The Crafter I bought off a guy that was trying to learn how to play, but was having problems so packed it in. He wanted £30 but I got it for £20, mainly cos we got along quite well, liked the same type of music etc etc. To be honest the guitar is worth a lot more, but he was offering it for £30 so I just tried haggling. I would have paid £30 if I had to though. The strings needed changing. The action was to high and so I lowered it a little. Lowering the action made it lot easier to play.
Anyway, I bought the guitar some 3 or 4 months back and I put up with the high action for about 2 days then set about lowering it. It was real nice after that, and I've put lighter stings on which work nicely. I'm thinking of installing a pickup and preamp, not something for the chicken hearted to attempt on their favourite guitar I can tell you! But we'll see what happens. I restrung it with John Cooper Strings and it sounds gr8!
The Fender GD-200 I bought from a guy down in Portsmouth via Preloved. Hey wanted £120 plus shipping, but I told him I was going to organise my own shipping, and got it for £80. When I got home I restrung it with John Cooper strings again, and I ordered a handmade Ebony saddle piece to replace the horrible plastic one.
I checked out eBay for some other bits for acoustic guitars, and ordered a set of Ebony and Brass string pins. After fitting both the above the guitar sounded and played better. So I now had a really nice sounding and playable small acoustic guitar.
The Electric guitar I will recount the build on at a later time, if I ever feel the inclination. It's not a guitar I particularly like now, having settled on using acoustic guitars in the main for my playing.
